I had my first trip with Mark in March 2020, and my second in October 2021. The fact I had a second trip shows how successful the first trip was. In fact, if not for COVID I would have booked a second trip much sooner.
The trip with Mark allowed me to check two things off my bucket list; catch a tigerfish and catch a fish from Africa. I have now caught a fish on six continents thanks to Mark.
Mark runs a top-notch operation. Everything is clean and well maintained from the boat to the fishing gear. Which shows he is interested in customer satisfaction and safety.
On the water Mark employs different techniques to ensure you situated to catch fish. I have caught tigerfish, vundu, and several species of bream. In my two trips I never had a day where we didn’t catch fish.
Had several mid-day meals provided by Mark that were all first-rate. Be it a braai, sandwich, or something else cooked up you will be pleased with the food.
While fishing the conversation is at the point it needs to be. Informative of the river, animals, local surrounding, and a bit of joking to break up things when needed. You will enjoy it all and be more informed when you leave. That was my experience.
The accommodation arrangements at Gwabi, referenced on the website, are first-rate as well. Service is great and breakfast and dinner left me satisfied, and not missing anything.
Book a trip, you won’t be disappointed. The fishing and comradery are an experience, I believe, you will truly enjoy and make you want to go back.

I just want to express my thanks again to you for the incredible experience we had fishing with you.  The trip was exceptional and I would and will recommend anyone I know who wants to experience this unique fishing trip on the Zambezi river to fish with you.  The lodge was comfortable and a great place to relax after a day on the water.  The food was excellent and their hospitality is top notch.

The whole trip was great from soup to nuts.  You made planning the trip easy and helping us add on the excursion to Livingstone and tranfer from there to the lodge easy and nonstressful.  The fishing was very different from what I was used to back in the US but it was fun and your patience with us learning how to fish for tigerfish was awesome.  It was great catching different species of fish that were so unfamiliar to us. The highlight of the trip for me was catching that huge Vundu.   Your knowledge of the area and techniques made for a great trip.  The scenery and wildlife was spectacular and looking at the 100’s of pictures I took has been difficult to decide which ones are better than another.  The daily bbq picnic lunches were awesome and helped break up the long days of fishing with a relaxing time looking out over the river while you bbq’ed some wonderful meals.

I look forward to fishing with you again in the future and consider you not only a great guide but a friend as well.

Thanks again for all.

Sincerely,

Howard S. Meiselman

The Service is “Taylor Made”

Good morning, I have had the privilege of joining Mark on a few of the Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours.  You literally need for nothing from the minute he warmly welcomes you and the service is “Taylor Made”.  Rods, Reels, tackle, informed skippers, refreshments, snacks, accommodation, meals, and the list goes on.  You jointly celebrate catches (and releases) and you jointly (and subconsciously) mourn the Big one that got away!  Definitely a bucket list item that all fishing enthusiasts should do.  Thank you, Mark and team!

Hi Mark,

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for a third consecutive year of great company , fishing, and excellent service. Every year I seem to think that I have achieved my personal best only to better it the following year.

It is awesome to be able to fish and experience the beautiful countryside and awesome wild animals. The variety of fish is also amazing.

Once again thank you and look forward to seeing you next year.

Mark Taylor Memmory of Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours is the ultimate fishing guide and host!

We had just come off a week in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe with a group of travel agents and the time spent with Mark at Gwabi River Lodge was an excellent way to re-charge our batteries.

Mark took care of absolutely every single detail – from transportation to meals to fishing gear to Covid testing required for our trip back home.

His extensive knowledge of the area is an enormous asset, and he knew exactly where to find the best spots to get bait, and where we’d have the best chance of catching tiger fish or vundu. We had some thrilling catches and Mark made sure to talk us through the reeling-in process so we could truthfully boast of our accomplishment.

We ate incredibly well and especially enjoyed our sandbar lunch breaks complete with fresh-cooked meals over the open fire. Sundowners and dinner overlooking the Kafue River were the perfect way to end each day. Mark paid great attention to our food and drink preferences and provided an excellent variety of ice-cold drinks and snacks for the boat.

Gwabi River Lodge is truly an oasis along the river – the gardens were gorgeous, the staff superb, and the cottages very comfortable and clean.

As Tour Operators, we are committed to ensuring our clients have the best possible experience on their trips. Without hesitation, we recommend Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours. Marks attention to detail, warm hospitality, wonderful sense of humor, and obvious love of the Lower Zambezi River region make him an excellent host and guide.

Recently had the pleasure of fishing with Mark and his able crew for our third trip to the Zambezi river. As before with our previous trips, it was a great time. We were picked up at the Lusaka airport and transported straight to the lodge, even getting in a half day of fishing after a quick lunch. The fishing for tiger fish was great. Hooked up with an occasional vendu as well. Mark is a very knowledgeable captain and outstanding chef. The weather has always been great and the accommodations and food at the Gwabi lodge are outstanding. Drifting down the Zambezi you will encounter plenty of wildlife. Elephants, hippos, monkeys and crocs are a daily occurrence. Occasionally you may see a lion or two. We traveled from the east coast of the United States, so having this be our third trip should tell you how special this place is. It’s a long trip from the US, but I wouldn’t hesitate to go back in a heartbeat.

Mark, I have now being fishing with you for about Ten years on the Zambezi.

I just had to let you know, every time I have had an amazing fishing experience on your boat. I have to compliment you on your boat & fishing tackle that you provide on the trip. It is top quality gear that won’t let any fish get away.

Also your expertise regarding the knowledge of the river and the fish in the river. The way you worked the different fishing spots until we have caught a nice big Tiger or other species. We have always caught so many fish on our trips. The handling of the fish really opened my eyes. Watching you release the big ones really increased my confidence in knowing that these fish will survive and remain healthy.

Then there are the river bank braais. We have cooked up some mean lunches on the banks of the river. I guess that’s because it was the perfect thing to do when you have a hard day of fishing. Even on the few occasions that the whole family was involved on a trip, everyone went home happy. Because of your high regard for safety on the river, I will not hesitate to bring the family back for a tour. I want to thank you again for these trips. These will always be good memories.

I will definitely be recommending your guided tours to many!  Very professional, yet fun and relaxed!

These fishing tours are truly “reel adventure”.
