This is a fishing charter for people who enjoy the thrill of Tiger fishing! The average size of the Tiger fish is about 3-6 kg’s. Its hot and sweaty, but the drinks are ice cold.

We have a gazebo and camping chairs for when we stop for lunch and have a sandbank braai (barbecue).

Dependent on the fishing, we probably stay out for the whole day until sunset.

Its not going to be a luxurious fishing trip, but the boats are perfect, the guides are good and we always come back with fish, even though out of 10 hits you get, you probably will only land 1 fish.

We have two boats that can go out. The boat I skipper is a 20ft sunseeker with a 300 hp Mercury Verrado motor.

My second boat is a 17.5 ft bowrider with a 115 hp Evinrude e-tech. Both boats are fully serviced and Seaworthy.

All fishing rods and reels are top brands. The fishing tackle is complete for any species of fish.

The first mate on the boat has a very good repertoire of the various birds , trees and wildlife found on the river banks.

Please note that our tours are strictly catch and release! We are proud members of the Zambian Sports Fishing Association and I am a sanctioned Captain of the International Game Fish Association.

Please consult your Doctor about taking anti-malaria tablets.

For an extra adventure, you can go down into the Lower Zambezi National Park.

For that we need to go down in one of my 6 meter aluminium boats with a 60 hp motor as that is the engine limit in the park.

It’s well worth it as there are no local people living there, so the fishing is good and dependent on the casual water away from the edge of the river, the game viewing is excellent.

We have seen prides of lion and herds of buffalo of 80 strong

Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours operate from Gwabi River lodge which is on the Kafue River, 6 kms from the confluence with the Lower Zambezi River. We are downstream from the Kariba dam wall.

Gwabi River Lodge

Situated on the Kafue river, 6 kms upstream from the confluence of the Lower Zambezi and Kafue rivers.

The lodge, which is owner managed, has been in existence for twenty years and has recently been refurbished.

The Lodge offers comfortable twin single bed chalets with air-conditioning, television and a tea and coffee station .

An a la carte menu, with a wide range of meals prepared as per your request.

The signature dish of chef Trevor is his mouthwatering Mocambiquen style Peri Peri chicken with side accompaniments. Definitely not to be missed!

A well appointed bar, with a wide range of beers, wines and spirits, manned by an enthusiastic team of barmen , who will keep the bar open until you have tired of telling all your Fisherman’s tales .

The Lodge staff are friendly and very professional and you will always be greeted with a smile.

Laundry facilities are available for a small fee.
There are credit card facilities for Visa and Mastercard credit cards except Diners club.
The Lodge offers Wi-Fi in the bar area .

You catch a flight to Lusaka airport, Zambia. Many of our international guests fly via Johannesburg, South Africa (I will probably fly up with the group as the guide).

You will then be collected at the airport and transported down to the river in an air-conditioned van.

The trip from the airport to the river is approximately three and a half hours dependant on the cross-border traffic. However,  there will be a cooler box in the van with water, soft drinks and beer to keep us going.

Tours Africa will transport you to Chirundu and depending on how many clients are part of the group, the boats will be waiting for us on the river.

We will then travel by boat to the Lodge, to give the clients a feel of the river, and to enjoy a few sundowners on the Mighty Zambezi River.

Will we be going back with Taylors Tiger Fishing Tours? HELL YES!

Good morning, I have had the privilege of joining Mark on a few of the Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours.

You literally need for nothing from the minute he warmly welcomes you and the service is “Taylor Made”.

Rods, Reels, tackle, informed skippers, refreshments, snacks, accommodation, meals, and the list goes on.  You jointly celebrate catches (and releases) and you jointly (and subconsciously) mourn the Big one that got away!  Definitely a bucket list item that all fishing enthusiasts should do.  Thank you, Mark and team!

Living in Australia, when I go to the Zambezi River for fishing I don’t want to waste time looking for the fish, the fishing guides should know where the fish should be. This is why I have no hesitation recommending Mark and his team at Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours, they know the river and where your targeted fish will be.

I find them knowledgeable and easy to work with and go the extra mile to make sure all your expectations are catered for.

I only use Mark and team for all my fishing trips to the Zambezi.
