just want to express my thanks again to you for the incredible experience we
had fishing with you. The trip was exceptional and I would and will
recommend anyone I know who wants to experience this unique fishing trip on the
Zambezi river to fish with you. The lodge was comfortable and a great
place to relax after a day on the water. The food was excellent and their
hospitality is top notch.
whole trip was great from soup to nuts. You made planning the trip easy
and helping us add on the excursion to Livingstone and tranfer from there to
the lodge easy and nonstressful. The fishing was very different from what
I was used to back in the US but it was fun and your patience with us learning
how to fish for tigerfish was awesome. It was great catching different
species of fish that were so unfamiliar to us. The highlight of the trip for me
was catching that huge Vundu. Your knowledge of the area and
techniques made for a great trip. The scenery and wildlife was
spectacular and looking at the 100’s of pictures I took has been difficult to
decide which ones are better than another. The daily bbq picnic lunches
were awesome and helped break up the long days of fishing with a relaxing time
looking out over the river while you bbq’ed some wonderful meals.
I look forward to fishing with you again in the future and consider you not only a great guide but a friend as well.
again for all.

Living in Australia, when I go to the Zambezi River for fishing I don’t want to waste time looking for the fish, the fishing guides should know where the fish should be. This is why I have no hesitation recommending Mark and his team at Taylor’s Tiger Fishing Tours, they know the river and where your targeted fish will be.
I find them knowledgeable and easy to work with and go the extra mile to make sure all your expectations are catered for.
I only use Mark and team for all my fishing trips to the Zambezi.
Fantastic side trip to the Zambezi
In 2015, a buddy and I decided to travel to Africa. We had a complete itinerary preplanned and would travel to 6 countries. We spent 4 days in the Kruger National Park where we met a South African who suggested we take a side trip to experience the tiger fishing on the Zambezi. It only took 2 beers and a quick rearrangement of our travel plans to make the suggestion fit in. We were given the contact details of Mark Taylor- Memmory who we were told knew the river and was sure to show us a good time. A couple of phone calls later we were hooked up with Mark and had our flights booked to Zambia.
We met Mark at Johannesburg Airport. He would accompany us to Lusaka, Zambia. Mark would be our guide, fishing instructor, skipper, wildlife spotter, lunch time chef and entertainment director for the next 5 days.
We took the two hour flight to Lusaka where Mark had arranged a van transfer to the river. To our surprise the van had a well-stocked cooler box to keep our thirsts quenched the entire 3 hour drive. The biltong provided was welcomed and enjoyed.
Our home for the next five days was the Gwabi River Lodge. Very pleasant accommodation, great owners, delicious food and a nice bar area to savor the day’s activities over a cold beer.
The fishing experience was excellent. Mark knows the river like the back of his hand. The boat was in pristine condition and very fast. The fishing rods and tackle were provided and 1st class. This was great as we did not have any of our own gear.
We caught tiger and vindoo every day. We had bbq lunch on the sandbanks which Mark cooked and there was always a cold one on hand. Not only was the fishing first class , but we also got to see elephants, hippos, antelope, crocs and an amazing array of birdlife.
This unplanned side trip turned out to be the highlight of our Africa tour.
Mark, I have now being fishing with you for about Ten years on the Zambezi.
I just had to let you know, every time I have had an amazing fishing experience on your boat. I have to compliment you on your boat & fishing tackle that you provide on the trip. It is top quality gear that won’t let any fish get away.
Also your expertise regarding the knowledge of the river and the fish in the river. The way you worked the different fishing spots until we have caught a nice big Tiger or other species. We have always caught so many fish on our trips. The handling of the fish really opened my eyes. Watching you release the big ones really increased my confidence in knowing that these fish will survive and remain healthy.
Then there are the river bank braais. We have cooked up some mean lunches on the banks of the river. I guess that’s because it was the perfect thing to do when you have a hard day of fishing. Even on the few occasions that the whole family was involved on a trip, everyone went home happy. Because of your high regard for safety on the river, I will not hesitate to bring the family back for a tour. I want to thank you again for these trips. These will always be good memories.
I will definitely be recommending your guided tours to many! Very professional, yet fun and relaxed!
These fishing tours are truly “reel adventure”.
We’ll be seeing you soon!
Fishing with Mark.
In the build-up before your arriving one has various concerns mixed with excitement and hope to land the big one. My concerns were soon removed and replaced by complete contentment.
I have undertaken 5 trips with Mark and would like to share my experiences for those who may wonder why they would choose to go with him.
Being based in South Africa, I would arrive around midday in Lusaka and leave the airport to board a micro bus arranged by him to travel to the Zambezi. On board there is always a choice of your favourite drinks or beverages, very important for those hot days in Zambia.
On arrival you discover Mark has organised and prepared for all eventualities, nothing is too much trouble for him or his longstanding Skippers.
What I enjoyed was how friendly he was and the fact that I was getting great quality at a reasonable tariff.
The boats are in excellent condition as is the fishing gear and bait supply, if not more importantly the boats were fully equipped with safety gear and well cared for engines, never once did I fear that an engine failure was possible. On all the trips, safety was always on the agenda whether it was having extra fuel on board or avoiding the many Hippos which if unhappy can become aggressive.
I will keep the fishing stories to a minimum other than to say that Mark likes to vary the species targeted, the top of the list being the Tiger fish, I was fortunate to enjoy many a Tiger fight .
A trip with Mark will definitely leave you with great memories and feelings of you wanting to go back for more.
